I’m D. W. Franklin. They tell me this is a humorous book, but I’m not having any of that----I don’t see one scintilla of humor in it---not one. Anyone that would laugh at the tragic demise of a cute little poodle dog is just sick (especially one wearing a red bow), and when I think about that old poor woman frozen stiff as a board, us stealing the miniature anteater----Tantric Sex ----and-----and---- I can’t continue----it’s too much. I just feel like crying my eyes out. Well, you’ll find out soon enough and I just hope you have lots of hankies close by. You’ll need them. I just wanted to tell the story of Alice and Moses and Fifi and me after the Democrats and Republicans divided up Washington State. I’m not kidding. Those idiots really did it. They split up the state into a Democrat western side and a Republican eastern side. Someone should tell this story before the Democrats and Republicans get all of us for good,

I thoroughly enjoyed this tongue in cheek look at our political system and the ins and outs of our own very human nature. Told through the eyes of Frank the housepainter, the reader is carried from one tall tale to another with each one carrying more than a grain of truth. From pesky ants to oversexed neighbors. Think you are up on the latest sexual gymnastics? Sorry, you ain't heard nothin' until you read the chapter on Frank's Tantric sex experiences. That chapter alone is worth five guffaws.

There are two things one can expect from humankind that some people will behave in ways that invite the mockery of others and that others will oblige them, happy to point out their excesses and absurdities. From the time of Horace, to that of Jonathan Swift, to present day, these two truths have interacted to give us copious amounts of satirical literature. Jumping into the fray is D. W. Franklin with his political satire. In current times, when much is spoken of bipartisanship, but little is practically done, some, no doubt, have wondered what it would be like if the opposition, whichever side that may be, would just disappear. In his book, Franklin depicts what the inevitable and ludicrous consequences are to just such a situation. Franklin's tale illustrates how absurd some modern ideologies are when carried out to their extremes, once again proving there is humor to be mined from the behavior of one's fellow man.
Very funny look at the differences between the Democrat and Republican division of Washington State by someone who obviously has "been there". Many people, including those not from Washington State will be able to relate to his experiences. P.S. - don't miss the part about the anteater!
This book is an easy read and delightfully funny. I loved the demise of Fifi, the frozen neighbor and the anteater the best, but the book is filled with entertaining stories. With all the political highjinks going on these days it isn't a hard stretch to imagine a state being torn in-two between the two prominate political parties and the ensueing aftermath that follows. What an ingenious idea! I highly recommend this book!
